A company that designed a small electrically powered watercraft needed CAD data of the deck and hull to enable a higher level of manufacturing in greater quantities. Since the craft would incorporate many ancillary parts, the CAD model would also facilitate assembly design and discussions with upline suppliers.

As a part of a master’s thesis, a 2D-lidar (laser scanner) has been installed on a surface vessel CS-Saucer in one of the Laboratories at NTNU, with the purpose of performing autonomous exploration. The video demonstrates the resulting system and shows how the vessel successfully explores the basin, set up with hinders.
